Description: Nominated as OAPS (Outstanding Academic Papers by Students) paper by Department in 2006-07.
Abstract: Wireless technology has been adding convenience to our lives by allowing computing and communication devices to be used almost anywhere and to be used in new, progressive ways. To fully utilize the benefits of wireless connectivity, a powerful software program with good set of hardware is needed. The project is aimed to build up a Java 2 Mobile Edition (J2ME) wireless communication software running on mobile phones platform that allows connecting two entitles via Bluetooth. Allowing a more efficient way for exchanging ideas, the program supports three core functions: sharing white-board, chat room and voice communication. All of the functions are written in specially designed codes which greatly enhance the software’s compatibility on different phone models, which is considered to be one of the greatest concerns when it comes to the design of this software.
