Since keyboard and mouse are not effective input devices for children, even the best educational software will be unusable. The touch screen will be suitable for developing learning pad for children. An Electronic Learning Pad for Children, running on Windows CE, is developed on the Intel ARM system (Broadmax WebMax Device). This project aims to implement three main functions. They are speaking; dialog and button control; and Graphical User Interface design. In the speaking function, the learning pad can speak out English speeches, words, letters and phonemes when users touch the system screen. Also, users can adjust the speaking volume. In the dialog and button control, bitmap buttons are used to provide function control. Also, the learning materials are represented by multiple dialog boxes. Users can read the next or previous page by clicking screen buttons. During Human Computer Interaction design process, the software is designed to provide good interfaces for children learning based on Human Computer Interaction theories. It is believed that an Electronic Learning Pad for Children can help children to learn more easily, funny and effectively.en_US
