Abstract: Bluetooth system is a low-power and low-cost mobile networking system. It supports both real-time traffics and data traffics from master and several slaves in the same network. However, there is no standard scheduling algorithm of bluetooth network to optimize the performance on different traffics at the same network. I proposed a new algorithm, QoS Based Priority Algorithm (QBP), to satisfy the Quality of Service (QoS) of real-time traffic which has a target bit rate. The Bluetooth system should also shorten the delay time of other normal data traffic such as ftp data. QBP is essentially a prioritized round robin scheme. The number of transmission for each connection is according to the credit gain of that connection. The credit distribution is based on the bit rate of the QoS real-time traffic and slot utilization on the connection. Higher priorities are given to QoS real-time traffic streams whose throughputs are not acceptable. Furthermore, master-slave pairs whose queues are both non-empty also receive higher priorities. The simulation results showed that QBP yields excellent performance comparing with two existing algorithms, Round Robin (RR) and Priority Policy (PP). QBP was already accepted by IASTED International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Networks (PDCN 2005).
