English is an international language widely used in the world. Nearly everyone likes to have a good command of English, being proficiency in English becomes a trend in Hong Kong. English learning involves reading, writing, listening, vocabulary, grammar and speaking. Vocabulary is the most important issue in English learning as lack of vocabulary can lead to misunderstanding on communication. Thanks to the advance of computer technology, there is a wide range of applications that can help learners to develop their vocabulary. However, the exercises provided by most of the systems may not be suitable to all students having different backgrounds. Therefore, a personalized English vocabulary system is needed to create tailored tests to different students. Weaker students can learn independently after school to catch up the class, while stronger students can also explore new materials. In this project, a flexible mechanism is provided for the teacher to set the conditions for upgrading and downgrading the level of students and exercises. These levels will be updated based on the performance of individual and class. With this feature, students can work on exercises that suit his level and upgrade to a higher level if there is improvement. As memory is a critical issue in vocabulary learning, memory reinforcement training will be offered to students. Furthermore, a vocabulary list is provided for each student to keep track of his learned vocabulary for further revision and learning. With training practices and an organized vocabulary list, learned vocabulary would stay longer in the memory. In addition, reports and feedback functions will be served as a way for teacher to monitor the learning progress of the students.en_US
