Mobile phone based digital ticketing system

Abstract

Digital ticketing system is a new generation of paper-based system and has a lot of advantage rather than paper-based system. However, most of the current digital ticketing systems are not able to allow their users to trade on their digital tickets. It causes certain inconvenience to user. The aim of this project is to enable digital ticket trading and improve the convenience of digital ticketing service. A trading scheme is designed to achieve that goal. A new ticket validation system is also created to provide online ticket validation service for both ticket user and service provider and offline ticket validation function for service provider only with minor hardware and software installation. By proof of concept, a prototype of a digital ticketing system is implemented to apply the proposed scheme and the proposed ticket validation functions.
