Personal informative map on PDA-phone

Abstract

Hong Kong is a dense city. Traveling by public transport is convenient than that of driving a car. Searching an available public transportation from a place to another place is comment in our life. However, the process of searching the public transportation is times costly. To implement a software to search for public transportation automatically is a good idea. This project introduces an E-Map application on PDA-phone. The map provides the basic map functions such as location searching, path finding, positioning. In addition, the map provides a point to point public transportation search function. This allows user to find a route from a starting point to a destination point in a short time. Both GPS and WPS technology are used on the application to provide an accurate positioning feature. Google Maps is embedded into the application as a basic layer through Google Maps API. Public transport information is collected from companies' web site. A suggested route is calculated by the server and drew on the maps.
