| Abstract: | Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) greatly enhances working efficiency today
and is popular all around the world. One of the most famous applications deployed by CSCW
is Instant Messaging (IM). IM’s simplicity and low-cost help a lot in achieving high working
efficiency. However, while computers and the Internet make office work much more
convenient, new problems also emerge. One example is that file version management system
for CSCW is difficult to, even if there are file version management softwares such as CVS
and SVN available in the market.
In this project, a File Sharing System (FSS) is developed. In the FSS, a file version
management system dedicated for “.doc” (Microsoft Word proprietary file format) with
remote multimedia interactive ability is developed by Borland C++ builder. FSS also
supports video conferencing and real-time desktop sharing which allows people to view,
modify and discuss about a document online simultaneously. The system is able to auto-adapt
to complicated network environment to ensure that users have best performance of remote
desktop function. The system can also help users establish connections with each other even
if the users are hidden by NAT devices.
The FSS developed in this project fills up the gap of interactive file version management. The
application could be utilized by modern offices, E-education, publishing industry as well as
any other fields related to document revising and sharing. |
