|Abstract: ||Libraries are taking in important role to be the centre of knowledge and provide different kinds of information for users. Facing the insufficient spaces, an increase of users in 2012, and meeting new value-added service model era of the Run Run Shaw Library, the library planned a renovation to meet the changes of library services. Due to the existing RFID systems like HF RFID could not facilitate versatile, fast speed, long-range but low cost advantages to meet the new concepts of library services, the pilot site was implemented in the semi-closed collection of the library. It was chosen the UHF RFID technologies to meet the needs of the new library systems. This thesis presents how to implement UHF RFID technologies into library systems and describes the successful cases in applying this technology in libraries. The goal of this thesis aimed to design stable, efficient, all-round and extensible RFID systems by linking with INNOPAC system which used by all universities in Hong Kong. It fulfilled the project requirements and matched up in reposition of library service model.
