Abstract: | In this project, a new algorithm is presented to greatly improve the efficiency of calculating radiosity both in static and dynamic environment. The algorithm combines the advantage of Hemi-cube method, progressive refinement method and multi-resolution modeling method. We greatly improve the efficiency of the radiosity calculation with the idea to separate the radiosity resolution and the rendering resolution. Therefore the calculation of radiosity is independent from the resolution of an object, so object with high resolution will be rendered in a faster speed which is totally different from the idea employed in previous work. In this report, a survey of previous work on radiosity and multi-resolution are presented, and then a detail discussion on my proposed algorithm and the experimental comparisons between several algorithms are presented. Finally, a summary of the result and achievement are discussed. |
