Abstract: | Internet is becoming more and more important nowadays and it has actually become part of our lives. Many security issues have been discussed and dealt with; however, privacy on the Internet seems being neglected until the recent years. Although privacy issues are starting to be handled in email and newsgroup’s postings, not much have been done to solve the privacy problem for Internet browsing. This project aims at designing and implementing the “Anonymous Server” to protect and guarantee the privacy of its users on Internet browsing. In order to implement the “Anonymous Server”, the middleman approach has been adopted in which the “Anonymous Server” acts as a middleman to handle all the connections for the user to their target web servers. Efforts have to be put in designing an algorithm for parsing the web content so that all the requests generated by users will always be redirected to the “Anonymous Server” first rather than connecting to the web server directly. Details of the problems of privacy issues on the Internet, design consideration and algorithm implementations of the “Anonymous Server” will be explained in this report. |
