Designing a visitor guild using PDA in City University of Hong Kong

Abstract

The visitor guild system is a mobile application, which can help user to get the latest information of City University. The application can provide a user friendly interface for user to find the shortest path to go to their destinations. In the system, data of different facilities and places were stored in the database. When user uses the application, it will prompt the user to choose where they are currently located, and the place they want to go. Then, the system will use Dijkstra algorithm to find a shortest way in between, and construct the interface to guild the user to go to their destinations. Also, the application provides a function which help user to find information of different facilities, such as the opening hours of Run Run Shaw Library and Canteen. The application will also read the database, and show all the information of recent events happening in CityU, such as Information Day. Besides of the mobile client program, the system also involves an administrative program, which can be used to modify the route between different places, and modify the latest information of different facilities and events.
