Abstract: | Computer games are usually associated with addictive and anti-social behavior. In this project, I try to design a new type of game that is healthy to the players. To achieve our goals, the first philosophical point is that the knowledge learned in the game should be useful in the real life. Our idea is to design a game which allows player to learn new vocabulary and usage of an object through our game. For the sake of getting wider range of players, we decide the game as a 2D action game. To enable extensibility, a Wikipedia-style editor is designed for the game. It means every player is allowed to modify the game content and download the latest information which is modified by other players. The results of the alpha version (notes 1) indicate that players successfully learn new vocabulary and usage of an object through our game. To conclude, the alpha version of the game has been developed. In this version, the game program can perform all elementary functions. Notes 1: Alpha version is a term of game produce procedure. Before a game to be successful published. It will produce four semi-products for development which is: (1) Pre-production (2) Alpha version (3) Beta version (4) Master version |
