dc.description.abstract | According to Bonwell & Eison (1991:2), active learning 'involves students doing things and thinking about the things they are doing'. Students can become more involved in learning when they are given the chance to talk, discuss, write and apply what they are learning. This project proposes to produce quality learning materials to aid students in effectively learning in an introductory Sociology course (AIS2020 Introduction to Sociology). By Using a variety of classroom assessment techniques (CAT) and strategies to promote active learning, it will allow the instructor to assess how well students understand concepts, theories and topics discussed throughout the semester while also enhancing the ability of students to extract more meaning from the class presentation and discussion. More importantly, students will not only learn the assigned content but also develop higher-order thinking skills. As it is a student-centered approach in learning, it can be easily adopted for use by other instructors. Reference: Bonwell, Charles C. & J. A.
