| Abstract: | The aim of the project is to investigate the design and fabrication processes of the long-period waveguide grating (LPWG) filter which will be applied in the modern optical network. The designed filter is aimed to work for the signal extraction in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) based optical communication network. It is fabricated using BCB and epoxy polymer materials with silica on silicon material used as a device substrate. Experimental results of the fabricated devices will be presented. Moreover, the feasibility of tuning the resonance wavelength of the filter using thermo-optic effect is also discussed. |
