Abstract: The market for mobile device is growing rapid, especially for smartphones. Smartphone is being the trend of mobile device chosen by consumers in Hong Kong. With the multi-functionality of smartphone, users are able to checking email, browsing web-sites, playing games whenever or wherever they want. However, large amount of power in battery is required to support CPU or memory processing for generating graphics and fetching information from the network. As battery size and capacity is limited in design, losing of battery power becomes a headache for users. Therefore, smartphone should have efficient power saving management programs in order to have longer travelling hours. To reduce battery drainage, some applications are designed for saving power via killing running process in system. However, users are sometime frustrated with blindly action on closing applications or switching off utilities. In order to saving battery power according to user's behavior, this project aims to develop an intelligent power saving program,"AI Juice" for Android phone. The intelligent program collects the data from environment through perception and usage statistic according to user’s behavior. Program then calculates the best power saving procedure whenever smartphone senses environmental condition, which has been previously recorded in database. In the experimental results, it showed that intelligent power saving program,"AI Juice", saved around 29% of battery power on Android phone for smartphone with high power drainage, and saved around 17% of battery power for smartphone with medium power drainage.
