|Abstract: ||Tourism is a big industry in the world. There are several travel styles available to tourist, such as package tours, group tours and individually arranged travel. Getting more freedom and flexibility trip, individually arranged travel has become more popular in recent years. Individually arranged travel has a big potential market on travel industry. However, there is lack of well organized self tour application on the market. Therefore, A Traveller Planning System is proposed. A Traveller Planning System is an android mobile application that provides a novel travel planning service for people who are planning to have a self drive tour. The project provides difference travel services to assist the travelers. To develop a good trip planning system, there are several issues that need attention. Firstly, the system needs to able to manipulate enormous amounts of travel information and that information needs to be up-to-date. Secondly, route planning service should provide a response within a reasonable time. Thirdly, common travel services should be included. Finally, sight recommendation can be suggested base on traveler location and preference.
In this project, different technology will be applied to fulfill the above requirements in a novel way. To collect and update the travel information, an enormous human resource is needed. The system makes use of the power of users to provide and update travel information. The system provides an online platform to the users to share different travel information. Planning an optimal route for travelling different planned sight is a headache problem. The system will help user for planning the optimal route. Travelers can save time and money by this function. To provide a functional travelling application, it should provide different helpful functions to users. Different travel services such as translation and currency converter will be included in the system. Using GPS of mobile, sights recommendation can be more user-friendly. User can do a sight searching. The system will suggest a nearest sight to the user.
There are several challenges on the system. Technically, several advanced algorithm are needed to be studied and applied to the system. Planning an optimal route for user is related to the famous graph problem - Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP). Different solution for solving TSP had been studied. The performance is an important factor for a real time system. A Traveller Planning system makes use of advance string matching function to perform response enquiry service.|
