The high investment cost in vehicles and equipment are always the major concerns to enter logistic market. Eventually, a new generation of logistic systems using commodity mobile devices has been invented to replace the expensive equipment. TrakIT, Mobile Logistic and nuDeliverIt are examples of the revised systems. However, only very limited number of systems available are designed based on the needs of the courier business. This project aims to fill the gap in the market by providing an improved courier and logistics management system targeting small-scale courier business. The system minimises the equipment cost, boosts productivity and business competitiveness by adopting mobile devices and providing advanced features. Mobile devices will replace costly equipments in the new system for location tracking and communication between the system and users. The system also provides the route suggestion feature in a flexible manner, based on the current orders and fleet size. Together with the automated ordering system, digital pickup and delivery confirmation features, the system will assist the business to provide a cost-effective performance in their operation. Advanced features including customised shipping time preference, membership and discount system, and arrival notifications will enrich the user experience of customers and increase their loyalty towards the company. This state-of-the-art system will provide a decisive advantage to small scale courier companies in daily operation, thus gain a higher position in the keen competition with market monopolies.en_US
