Abstract: | This project is to build a home monitoring system to monitor the environment status at home, such as temperature and humidity and the power consumption of electrical appliances. The whole system includes a tablet with Android OS as the central control, a set of sensors for taking environmental statistics, power consumption meters and wireless controlled sockets. All the information transmission between the central control tablet and other devices are wireless. ZigBee is used for the wireless connection in the system. A tablet was built in the project. An ARM 11 CPU S3C6410 is used on the core board of the tablet. The motherboard has 50 pins 7" touch LCD for interactive control of the system and ZigBee interface for wireless connections. Power consumption meter was built with metering IC from Analog Devices. It is integrated with the wireless controlling switches to measure the power consumption of the electrical appliances connected to the switches. The data collected is sent to the tablet through ZigBee modules to the tablet periodically for display and record. |
