Abstract: In languages for specific purposes not enough attention is given to the development of new literacies, i.e. the use of digital tools to convey information through a combination of modes (e.g. textual, visual, audio) and interact with an authentic audience. This project investigates the possibility of combining traditional literacy instruction with the development of new literacies through a video project (scientific documentary). This project will inform the immediate student participants but will also have wider application in course development for EN discipline specific courses, courses in the BCH and Mathematic Departments, and in the university as a whole.
