dc.description.abstract | Taking care a baby is never an easy job. Due to a momentary oversight, an infant may expose to wide-ranging risks and accidents. According to the reports from Hong Kong Government, children under three had the highest proportion among all inquiry cases and around 10 percent of them were died because of accidents. In order to prevent the children against various accidents, parents should keep tracking their children attentively and have a great alertness to the surrounding environment. However, most of the parents in the modern world are very busy and they may find difficult to keep a close watch on the infant continuously. Infant accidents happened in the past also arouse our awareness of home safety. People are seeking some technologies to raise our alertness to different household dangers and hence eliminate various infant accidents. As the result it is necessary to have some modern technologies to assist parents in baby care. Caregivers should have a better understanding of their infant and be attentive to their routines such as movements, sleeping and other daily habits. To ensure the health and safety of an Infant, an advanced Infant Tracker mobile application was inspired. It was a Cordova Android application tail made for the busy or inexperienced parents. With the application of SensorTag, the caregivers could keep tracking the daily activity of the infant without close watch monitoring. The proposed solution successfully detected six infant postures (Standing, Lying Down, Crawling, Lying Right, Lying Left, Legs Facing the Sky) and four infant activities (Walking, falling, jumping and sleeping). It could collect the track records automatically without manual recording. The proposed solution also made possible in Indoor Positioning. After the installation of IBeacon(a Bluetooth Low Energy devices developed by Apple Corporation) in different home areas, such as Kitchen, toilet and living room, the application could collect the location tracks of the infant based on the broadcasting signal issued by the Beacon tags. The application played a role of baby care assistants and prevented infant from entering some danger home areas accidently. | en_US |
