Abstract: | The increasing internet traffic and higher QoS (Quality of Service) requirements, including larger bandwidth demand, have brought great challenges to the network. Under this situation, internet traffic engineering, which evaluates and optimizes network performance, receives significant attention. In this project, two methods are explored to minimize overall cost in the multilayer network design. The first method is Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP), which is suitable for small networks. CPLEX with Java is used to realize this solution. The second method is called Multilayer Network Capacity Design (MLNCD), which is a heuristic to solve problems in larger networks in real life. Finally, a brief comparison between these two methods is given. |
