Data centre management system with 3D view

Abstract

This project aims to build a data centre management system for PCCW Solutions to centralize the information of the facilities. For the large amount of the data of the facilities in different districts, the communication of the teams and the data flow are not optimized since the data is not centralized. Data inaccuracy and inconsistency always occurred and resulted in reducing productivity. Extra man, time and other resources are needed to fix and solve the problems and difficulties caused by the outdated and wrong information. Although there are some products on the market which can solve the problems, PCCW Solutions would like to have a lifelong development and enhancement, and fully customization to fit their own needs, they prefer to have a workable prototype to show the functions and possible improvements of such management system before they really spend resources on developing a data centre management system. The system contains four major components which include a management application run in computer, a network database to centralize all data, 3D room views to show a more realistic views for the users, and an android mobile app for the on-site users to read the optical-readable marks to look up the basic information of the devices. Demonstration and presentation are made to PCCW Solutions, they think this system could solve their problems, improve their productivity and save their times. They are interesting in improving and enhancing this system.
