| Abstract: | Traditional engineering and science courses focus strongly on the dissemination of fundamental principles and knowledge. In typical engineering/science curriculum, problem-solving skills are promoted primarily through well-defined textbook-type problems. This project aims at promoting undergraduate research experience through guided collective research efforts on a real-life environmental engineering and management problem in Hong Kong, and encouraging the utilization of web-based tools and platforms for engineering project management and communication. The project will allow the participating students to systematically explore, analyze, and present research results in a collective manner. The nature of this project supports the Discovery-Enriched Curriculum (DEC). |
