The project is the combination with two parts, which are multi-function transition and active component, respectively. The multi-function transition is designed for the applications of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) to microwave/millimeter active components. The design combines the advantages of flexibilities of microstrip line in mounting active devices with DC bias, and the low transmission loss of SIW in forming microwave/millimeter-wave passive components. The proposed SIW-to-microstrip line transition features functions of DC de-coupling, low loss, wideband, compact, impedance transformation and mode matching. The active component is designed as an amplifier based on BFU730F, optimized for 12GHz(X-band). The amplifier is employed with microstrip input and output matching networks, achieved by impedance transformation and DC blocking of transition. This design can minimize the size of active component, due to omitting the impedance matching and traditional transition, and the loss, caused by the DC-blocking capacitor.en_US
