Authors: Huang, Xiaolian

Abstract: This project is going to introduce a web-based SP Xpress System, which is used to analyze the performance of students and the quality of questions. Since traditional numerical scoring cannot represent the real ability of both students and questions, Student-Problem Chart (S-P Chart) Theory was proposed by Scholar Takahiro Sato of Japan introduced some indexes including Student Modified Caution Index (Student MCI) and Item Modified Caution Index (Item MCI). The MCI is not only calculating the total mark, but also integrated with the score of each question and each student so that a more comprehensive analysis can be provided. This system provides a convenient platform for teachers to compute the Student Curve, Problem Curve and MCI, which based on S-P Chart Theory. With the help of explanation, teachers can have a better understanding on the real performance of students and question.
