dc.description.abstract | A design of a button-sized wearable antenna for wireless-local area network (WLAN) applications is presented in this project. The antenna-consists of an internal central via connected to a top G-shaped pattern, the main button body and a metal plane, which materials are copper, with FR4 substrate in between. The overall size of the antenna, 6.9mm x 15mm, and shape achieved are similar to the normal button on clothes. Co-planar waveguide (CPW) feed is used in the 0.09mm flexible ground plane which is different from the previous wearable button antenna development. The wearable antenna is designed for 2.45 GHz with monopole-typed radiation patterns. This allows transmission to other worn devices on the body. The radiation patterns, peak gain and return loss between simulation and measurement will be presented compared. The return loss and insertion loss on different separations between two buttons in different positions will be shown. The performances of the antenna worn on the human body are also investigated by measurement, the results shown that antenna is-available for the body area network application. | en_US |
