dc.description.abstract | Smart devices, such as smart phones, tablets, and so on, have become necessary items for everyone, especially people who live in cities. People bring their smart devices along wherever they go. Therefore the smart devices have great potential to become the best helper tools for users to solve their problems or to keep tracking on users. For example, some people have regular living pattern but bad memory. They may need a person or a device to remind them not to miss their routine tasks. Therefore, this project is going to develop an audio-reminder application for preventing those problems. This project aims to develop a mobile application to track the activities of the user by recording the sounds generated by the objects interacting with the user. If the application cannot find the preset signal within the period of time, it will produce signals to remind the user to perform the missing tasks. The goal of this project is to change the smart devices from a general device to the best helper tool. The project is developed with Android SDK and operating system of target device should be at least Android OS 4.4. The aim of the project is to enable classification of the audio signal from the environment by the amplitudes and the frequencies of the signal. Although it cannot precisely classify the source of the audio signal, it can generate a normalized pattern for comparison after the device has been fine-tuned. The product can only keep monitoring user activities in the time specified by the user. | en_US |
