Abstract: The problem of traffic congestion in densely populated Hong Kong is quite serious particular in rush hour. Many of us may encounter the situation of traffic jam before. However, there is lacking in an advanced system in Hong Kong to reflect the instant traffic of routed-based transportation likes bus. This project aims to provide real-time traffic condition of bus routes by collecting the GPS locations from users using the concept of crowdsourcing. By adopting a check-in algorithm, passengers who are in particular bus routes can be identified. Collected data will be gathered and analyzed by the system. Once a large amount of data obtained from users, the traffic condition will be reflected accurately. Users can choose a faster bus route towards their destination based on the instant traffic condition. Besides, users can refer to the accumulated traffic information to plan their upcoming journey.
