Abstract: | Since 2010, massive data generation and insights into human genomes and genetics are enabled by the next generation sequencing technology. However, there are little awareness and understanding in human genetic at Hong Kong. Many Student in Hong Kong not rely know the human genome. Knowing the human genetic can make people understand more to our body and health such as blood type, genetic disease and so on. Therefore, a platform is needed to create for education purpose on human genomes and genetics in smart phone for student getting this knowledge easily. Moreover, existing platform on the internet not very suitable for Hong Kong students. For example, the Genome Browser provide a wide range of human genetic information. It have a lot of biological jargon in the interface and visualized data. They may be too difficult for a students that not familiar in Human Genetic. Therefore, it may be a not the best application for student learning human genetic. To solve this problem, a web application provided basic human genetic information such as chromosome, gene sequence, genes’ position and length, mRNA and Protein sequence, and so on will be developed. The application aimed to develop a educative genome browser, like UCSC genome browser, in more simply and user-friendly way and make it to education purpose. Genome Data is the most important element in this project. Human genetic data are provided by different researchers and open to the public. Ensembl will be the data source of this project. It provide the a API for public to access their Public database. Therefore, the API provide by Ensembl will be used in this project. The Challenge part of this project is that understand the genetic information and present it in more interactive way and visualize it in graphic. Moreover, genetic information must be clearly understood and presented to user collect. |
