Authors: Wong, Kwok Sing
Department: Department of Electronic Engineering
Issue Date: 2018
Supervisor: Supervisor: Dr. Wong, Steve H; Assessor: Prof. Leung, Kwok Wa
Abstract: This paper provides an insight to the Internet of Things and gives an overview of a small antenna designed for the IoT network. The antenna is made for a LED spotlight, which is one of the most common electronic device in IoT development. The antenna will be used for Wi-Fi communication with resonant frequency 2.4 to 2.5GHz, which is in ISM band. The contexts will include background of the problem, design principle, techniques of making small antenna, performance optimization and simulation results of HFSS. The antenna finally will be fabricated and tested, result will be shown and discussed at the end of the paper. With hope, this report may benefit the development of the IoT network and gives a new direction on designing small antennas for small electronic devices.
