dc.description.abstract | A wideband 40GHz magneto-electric dipole antenna is proposed in this project. The performance of designs was simulated by a EM software ANSYS HFSS. As the thickness of antenna played a key role in the design, two methods was tested to control the antenna thickness - stacked-PCB method and H-shaped ground method. The stacked-PCB method worked well on simulation but the error on fabrication was large. The H-shaped ground method also worked but hard to fabricate. The stacked- PCB design was fabricated and tested; the performance shows a narrower bandwidth and degraded gain, which was possibly due to fabrication error. Although fabricated antenna performed poorer than the simulation, the design shows a wideband characteristic in 40GHz. | en_US |
