Abstract: | As the power wheelchair has existed for many years, there are still not enough safety measures for both the patient and the people around. With the increasing trend of auto-pilot, this project is to develop an anti-collision system for power wheelchair to reduce the chance that the patient gets hurt from the impact with the obstacles. The project uses a RGB-Depth sensor (Microsoft Kinect v1) and a Raspberry Pi Model 3 to achieve a distance measurement and collision detection system, the infrared projector projects multiple dots and using ToF (Time of Flight) to calculate the distance between the sensor and the object. With the IoT (Internet of Things) concept emerges into the business world, by using the connectivity of the Raspberry Pi and both the Colour Stream and Depth Stream will be captured as a video and upload to Google Drive for future tuning and record, similar as an auto mobile black box. This project is to investigate the feasibility of implementing the proposed anti-collision system into a power wheelchair and help solving the safety issues. |
