Abstract: | In recent years, the addresses of IPv4 have all been exhausted in some countries such as China and thus more users are forced to switch to IPv6 instead. This is a great timing to obtain the data and use them for developing a new lookup algorithm to speed up IPv6's lookup time. Therefore, in my project, I focused on collecting prefix tables from different routers as testing set to develop a new lookup algorithm for IPv6 to speed up the lookup time. By comparing with 5 other commonly used algorithms by rebuilding them and run on the same platform, my research result shows an increase of 50% in lookup speed. In the algorithm developed in this project, I have separated the prefixes into different groups according to their length and apply different algorithms to each group. |
