Abstract: | Due to the advancement of the society and the concept of smart home, the demand for the home automation is increasing and intelligent IR remote control device are needed for controlling electric appliances. However, most of the remote controllable appliances are incompatible. It is a kind of resource wastage as it requires many different remote controllers to manipulate multiple home appliances. Besides, it is inconvenient for users to find a matching remote controller before operating a particular application. Although there are a lot of universal IR remote controllers in the market, most of them are not truly "Universal" and they are unadaptable to the new-coming home appliances. This project aims to implement a universal programmable Arduino-based IR remote controller in different ways. Based on the data collected from the sensors or other settings, the controller will be able to control all the household applications by one device. Besides, by adding extra functions to the product such as "IR signal transmission with temperature detection" and "Searching" function, users can control different electrical appliances in different ways. It ensures universal, programmable, adaptability, user-friendly and multi-functional. Therefore, this product can be adopted for future use and will not be outdated. |
