dc.description.abstract | Microwave rectifier is a device that is used to convert Radio Frequency (RF) to Direct Current(DC). The major application of this technology is Microwave Power Transmission(MPT), which is currently used in wireless charging devices. The project aims to design and implement a compact-size high-efficiency microwave rectifier by using Compact Microstrip Resonator Cell(CMRC). To boost the efficiency of a rectifier, a typical microwave rectifier will introduce a Harmonic Control Circuit(HCC) to formatting the wave across the diode. However, most HCCs are implemented by Microstrip lines and therefore maintain a relatively large size. CMRC is an implantable cell circuit that has intrinsic slow wave effect and stopband characteristic, which makes it a suitable structure for implementing compact size HCC. In some previous research, the CMRC is used to build the HCC in power amplifier and acquires an outstanding performance. However, no study is found where the CMRC is used as the HCC in the rectifier to improve the efficiency of the rectification. Through the comparison of the classical Microstrip Class-F rectifier and the CMRC rectifier, this project studies the effect caused by using a CMRC that has the Class-F characteristic as the HCC of a rectifier. The result reveals that the CMRC rectifier can maintain the same high efficiency of 77%(simulation) with the HCC size reduction of 68%. | en_US |
