Abstract: | This project aims to develop an automated and growth promoted indoor farming system for Brassica Chinensis. In this system, Arduino Mega 2560 is used as the microcontroller and high power LEDs as the light source. The implemented Red and Blue combined LEDs have a Red to Blue ratio of 7:2. Both of the pulse lighting and smart lighting treatment are applied concurrently to promote plant growth. This smart farming system optimized plant growth while reducing manpower, by automating irrigation, together with a climate control unit. Climate conditions including light intensity, soil moisture, temperature and humidity within the growing chamber are monitored. Fluctuations in climate is suppressed, providing an optimized growing condition for Brassica Chinensis. A control with Brassica Chinensis growing indoor without smart farming system is set for further comparison and analysis. By comparing the data of plant growth with and without the system, the findings have shown significant difference between the two setups on the effect of plant growth. Based on analyzed results, the plants growing under the indoor farming system have a higher growth rate than the other. |
