Abstract: | This dissertation is mainly focus on thermoelectric cooler(TEC). TEC is not as efficient as other cooling device, but it is easy to be controlled and adjusted. Comparing to traditional heat pumps and refrigerators, TEC is superior in its high reliability, low maintenance, no moving parts that causes vibration, no refrigerants, and also converting energy directly. The cooling degree can be controlled easily by changing the input electrical current, so that the operation of TEC is highly adjustable. Moreover, one main characteristics of the TEC is that the performance is almost independent of its capacity, so it is good to be a cooler for a small enclosures. Because of these advantages, TEC is used in electronic, optoelectronic and bioanalytical devices, like microprocessors, semiconductor lasers and DNA micro-arrays. This dissertation is to study its performance as a mini air cooler and the possibility of an alternative to the conventional cooler. |
