Abstract: | Nowadays, technology has become an integral part of our daily life. It is widely developed and explored for new inventions, and generally known as smart devices. Some of the most commonly used smart devices are smartphones, tablets, phablets, smartwatches, smart glasses and other personal electronics. The invention of smart devices plays an important role and changes people’s lifestyle. As an interactive electronic gadgets, it is able to connect, share and interact with its user and other smart devices. With the development of advanced technology, smart devices could lent a helping hand for people with special needs such as motion disabilities, visual or speech impairment, disorders, etc. There are 578 600 disabled people in Hong Kong, and an estimated 110 billion worldwide, excluding persons with intellectual disability. Disabled people with restriction in body movement forms a large proportion among total population, and impose an increase on the demand for high-priced assistive technology device, i.e. wheelchair. This project aimed to increase the mobility of disabled people with body movement restriction, bring up an alternate control techniques, provide affordable devices for disabled people to communicate and connect more effectively, efficiently and interact remotely. |
