Development of a face detection Android app using Microsoft Face API

Abstract

Nowadays, people always take lots of photos using smartphone instead of using camera. However, it is hard for user to identify individual person inside the group photos with new friends. Therefore, a user friendly android application was designed to help user to manage the photos more easily. Using this app, user can pick the images in the phone or from the drive to do quick face detection and identification. Then, user can immediately identify the people using the information return from the app. Furthermore, it can help setting the detected face as that person’s contact icon. All face detection and identification are supported with the help of the Face Api, so network connection is required in this application. With this application, people can still figure out each person’s name in the group photos in a more convenient way after a period of time.
