Abstract: | In the rapid development of 5G communication, MIMO system, which includes frequently use of antenna arrays, is a commonly applied. Generally, in MIMO systems, each antenna will send out a signal in a certain direction. This project uses antenna array to replace single antenna in MIMO system to increase the directivity. The conventional antenna arrays use multi-ports feeding or adding multi-phase-shifters, which increase both the cost and complexity of the array, to construct a beam-forming network. This project develops a novel microstrip antenna array which can be applied in 5G MIMO systems. The antenna array applies the principle of Coherent Radiation Periodic Structures (CORPS) to build a beam forming network which allows controlling a 1*N antenna array with n input ports which control n 1*2 antenna arrays. By using hybrid rings as the elements of CORPS to build the beam forming network, this project tries to fabricate the antenna array on an 18 segments rectangular polyhedron. The whole structure can generate 18 beams with different directions corresponding to which input port is excited. |
