This project aims at designing and developing an android application to real time perform facial recognition, the android system is applicable on the university security issue that the security staff can check the identity of student in university instead of scanning their ID card. In this project, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method is applied to reduce high dimensionality on the huge image dataset which consist the pre-processed trained images. Python is chosen to develop the face recognition algorithm. In the mobile software system implementation part, the android mobile app is developed using JAVA as a primary language, users will be able to real time capture the target image and pre-process the face. However, due to the intensive computation of face recognition, the cloud server is involved as a supportive backend system. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the proposed cloud server, using the provide Amazon service, the cloud architecture is constructed for users to upload and recognize image. The result will then send back to mobile application, the student identity is verified if there is match result found in the dataset.en_US
