Qualitative information is vital for practitioner to understand the behaviours of different groups including the minorities yet the information are often missing. In order to strengthen our students when gaining understanding of different behaviours among the society, we therefore would like to introduce storytelling in the courses (Human Behaviour and Social Environment (SS3280)/Human Behaviour and Diversity (SS5212)). Storytelling is one of the qualitative methods which allowed students to capture life experiences based on theories of narrative, self, identity and memory in the fields of humanities and social sciences. The project aims to provide opportunity to learn storytelling techniques and practice the skills throughout the course. Students would be able to apply it in experiential activities such as community-based group project and individual self-reflective essay, so as to enhance their understanding of the aesthetics, creativity and social function of storytelling. The collection and appreciation of life stories would be beneficial for future practitioners to work with different groups and practice personal reflection. Project outcomes would be evaluated through a symposium (performance) and feedbacks collected from group presentations and individual reflection and periodic review. A database of stories published in the format of a casebook would be created to share with interested parties.en_US
