Abstract: | In this project, I designed a printed circuit board (PCB) embedded with pyroelectric sensors. Working together with MATLAB code, the system can detect and recognize several gestures. The PCB consists of couple of pyroelectric sensors, op amplifiers with resistors and capacitors and an Arduino Mega. The pyroelectric sensors could output corresponding voltage levels according to the change of ambient infrared caused by gestures. The op amplifiers were to amplify the output voltage level generated by the pyroelectric sensor so that the Arduino could detect it. Arduino Mega was for data transmission. It received signals from op amplifiers and transmitted them to the PC. The system can differentiate three gestures: "Bye-bye", "Stop" and "Come". MATLAB with Arduino Supporting Package installed was used to deal with the data received from Arduino Mega. Fréchet Distance algorithm was written and applied to determine the category of the detected gesture. The detection result would be in both speech and text format. |
