dc.description.abstract | Wireless power transmission (WPT) has attracted lots of attention because it can transfer energy from the power source to the receiver without physical interconnection. As a result, it can bring convenience and safety to all users, especially when the physical interconnection is inconvenient or even hazardous. In this project, a comprehensive study about wireless power transmission (WPT) is carried out, including the development of wireless power transmission (WPT), various genres of existing techniques, recent technologies and applications. Then magneto-electric dipoles are studied and designed for the near-field wireless power transmission (WPT) system at 2.4 GHz. The performances of magneto-electric dipoles are compared with the microstrip patch antennas and the sensitivity of misalignment is also tested. The measured power transmission efficiency is 94% and 54% at 2.4GHz for the distance equal to 10mm and 50mm. The overall performance of wireless power transmission using magneto-electric dipoles is much better than using microstrip patch antennas. Then two types of circular polarized magneto-electric dipoles are proposed for the wireless power transmission (WPT) system to increase the performance, especially in the sensitivity of misalignment. | en_US |
