Abstract: | The problem of determining the identity of a human in accurate and secure is a controversial issue in these years. The uniqueness of human biometrics makes it capable to be one of the solutions to the problem. Many applications in daily life were used to control access for service and facility in the world using human biometrics. But on the other hand, some criminals keen on counterfeiting human biometrics to obtain benefits from pretending others’ identities. Palm-vein is one of the human biometrics which can be conducted conveniently using near-infra-red technology and cannot be easily counterfeited at the same time, as it is part of the blood circulation system in the body. The use of human recognition is widespread in recent years. However, it was not commonly used in the industry due to lots of limitations in the released device. In this project, I will improve the design of the palm vein recognition device and algorithm to achieve an ideal palm vein recognition device, by extracting the Region Of Interest (ROI) and applying the Wave-atom Transform (WAT) in the algorithm for security and privacy protection. |
