Abstract: | Most of us have been in Hong Kong for years and know about the present appearance of Hong Kong tourist spots. However, we do not know well about the old day’s appearance of those tourist spots. With different side buildings of the tourist spots, we can experience the old face of Hong Kong, to understand more about the city that we are in, and to deepen our feelings about Hong Kong. Also, there is a trend of rebuilding the real world in a virtual world, and an important task to collect 3D models of World Heritage building. By showing the Hong Kong tourist spots in a virtual world, we can visit them anytime in our home, or even on our phone. In this project, a cyberworld is built that includes some interesting tourist spots in Hong Kong, which is in their old faces. Users can walk around inside the cyberworld to view the tourist spots, by using a computer or Android device. There are two main parts for this project, including 3D modeling and building a 3D world. For 3D modeling, MagicaVoxel is used as a tool to build 3D models. Blender is also used as the tool to output the final 3D models. For building a virtual world and user interface, Unity is used as the tool to conduct the world. After researching different landmarks of Hong Kong, it is found that most of them did not change their appearance, but their surroundings have been changed a lot. This is a good chance for us to look at the detail of those landmarks of Hong Kong. |
