A smart home is one of the biggest trends in technology. We can see that there are more and more smart furniture comes out. There will be no accident happened at home since every position is monitored on your smartphone. No matter the temperature, humidity or even the detection of the weather, all the information can be shown to the user immediately. Also, the smartphone is able to become a universal remote controller. It can control everything at home such as TV, air conditioning, fan.. etc. There is no need to contain any physical redundancy remote control at home. Even if you don't want to move your finger, voice can be another control method like SIRI. Maybe these things are just a notion in the last generation, it can be achieved easily nowadays. In order to simulate the smart home system I mentioned before, I am planning to set up 3 systems step by step which is monitor system, universal IR remote control, and door locking system. All the function will be connected with an application which developed in Android. Therefore, my objectives are to control everything using our smartphone and the environment is based on the TCP network. It can share the system with most of the people easily. A low-cost solution is proposed to use micro-controller such as Arduino with each kind of sensor and device. WIFI will be developed as a low-cost communication ability. As a result, the home can be controlled and monitored with just a smartphone. The operation of the application and universal function of the remote can be adaptive for any new device.en_US
