Abstract: | In this essay, we will be reviewing the housing price in Hong Kong and the economics of governmental policies to better understand the nature of “Concrete Jungle in Hong Kong”. Concrete Jungle in this essay refers to areas packed with a high density of tall buildings covering both residential and commercial areas. We employ a case-by-case approach to analyze the factors that have led to the chronic Concrete Jungle problem in Hong Kong. Our group expects that Hong Kong’s distinguishable factors such as insufficient land supply, Hong Kong building’s construction style and properties as investment targets have led to the concrete jungle. Thus, we aim for finding the cause and effect relationship between these factors and the following outcome. Moreover, analysis in the economics of governmental policies will also be employed to gauge the effects of government policies on Hong Kong’s concrete jungle. Our goal is to deliver a better understanding of the concrete jungle in Hong Kong and find out the reasons why we are living in a concrete jungle nowadays. |
