Nowadays, the global food supply problem is getting worse year by year. According to FAO's information, 795 million people are still suffering from hunger. More than 2 billion are Overnutrition. The main reasons are uneven food supply and current agriculture are not enough to supply locally. Although some new agriculture technologies have been developed, such as hydroponic and aeroponic systems, these systems have their own limitations including the limited kinds of crops able to plant, lack of environmental monitoring, high land usage requirement etc. In this project, a new system called Aero-Hydroponic Agriculture System (AHAS) is invented. It is aiming to provide one more source for local food supply to increase efficiency. AHAS is a hybrid system of merging aeroponic agriculture and hydroponic agriculture that provides two different layers for growing more varieties of fruits, vegetables, and herbs on the top layer and carbohydrates on the bottom layer. This work offers more diverse crops with higher productivity in the same farming surface area. With this new type of agriculture, more food can be supplied in a limited urban farming application space and reduce local food demand pressure.en_US
