Abstract: | There are different Chinese input methods in the market, Stroke-based typing method has gained a significant amount of attention in mobile platform with its easy learning curve and good accuracy in typing Chinese characters. This project focuses on "G6 Chinese Input Method" (G6IME), which is an advanced version of stroke-based input method that locating Chinese character with 6 codes. This project aims to improve the currently published version of G6IME dated 23 May 2020, including bugs fixing, database enhancement, creating programs for future database management, documenting program codes, and new features implementation. In the early stage of the project, a few studies are conducted to compare G6IME with third party IMEs in both Chinese and English typing experience. The research provides improvement ideas for later development of the G6IME. Testing and review of current version of G6IME have done in this stage for bugs finding and getting ideas on improving the IME from user's point of view. Debugging, implementing new features, testing, and reviewing on the new version are conducted simultaneously during the main development stage. |
